Vessel Club is a pub on Calle Almirall Cadarso, in Cánovas, the upmarket part of the Ensanche (L'Eixample) known for its concentration of bars and cocktail lounges. Local guides describe it as a selective pub and one of the reference points for tardeo in Valencia, the local habit of starting the weekend night out in the late afternoon; one of them went as far as calling it the mecca of tardeo.
The venue has an indoor bar and dance area plus a terrace, with a VIP area and service for groups who want a more private experience. It holds around 300 people. Besides its own nights, it can be rented for private events such as birthdays or company celebrations, so on some dates the usual programme may change and it is worth checking before going.
The musical mix is built around commercial hits, house and Latin music, with DJ sessions as the backbone of the night and live performances in the afternoon sessions. Afternoon events typically start at 17:00 or 20:00, and the atmosphere gradually shifts from after-work drinks into a full party as the evening goes on.
Cánovas is one of the parts of the city where people tend to dress up for a night out, and Vessel follows that line: elegant or smart clothes are the norm, and sportswear is best left at home. The minimum age is 18. Entry and drinks are usually in the 12 to 20 euro range, depending on the night and whether a drink is included.
Vessel usually opens on Fridays and Saturdays from 17:00 until around 03:30, as well as on the eves of public holidays. Arriving in the afternoon is the easiest way to get in without queues and to find a spot on the terrace; for groups, reserving a VIP area in advance is the way to secure a table. The club combines easily with the other bars on the surrounding streets and with dinner in Cánovas or nearby Ruzafa, and taxis circulate constantly along nearby Gran Vía Marqués del Túria.
