Rumbo 144

Rumbo 144 is a nightclub at number 144 of Avenida de Blasco Ibáñez, in the Algirós district, on the long avenue that links the university area with the seafront neighbourhoods. Its location explains its character: this is a classic of Valencian student nightlife, well known among young Valencians and Erasmus students, and a place many people head to after starting the night in the bars of the neighbourhood.

The music is mainly commercial: current hits, Spanish pop, reggaeton and R&B, the kind of songs the whole room sings along to, with karaoke moments and themed parties. The club holds around 250 people, which keeps it compact and lively rather than overwhelming, and it is a popular choice for birthdays and group celebrations.

Rumbo 144 has a very full weekly calendar. Wednesday nights are known for their Erasmus parties, Thursday is the university night with Jueves Universitario, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday each have their own night session, with guest DJs and local themes such as La Terreta. Alongside the club nights, the venue runs Tarde_On, afternoon sessions with live bands, often indie groups and tribute acts covering bands such as Guns N' Roses, as well as Saturday tardeo concerts. Bank holiday weekends usually get their own special parties.

The crowd is young, mostly students from the nearby universities, Erasmus students and local groups of friends in their late teens and twenties. The dress code is casual. Entry is for over-18s. Entry prices vary by night, usually between 8 and 15 euros, and drinks inside are not the cheapest in the area, so many people have a first drink in the bars around Blasco Ibáñez before going in.

Practical tips: on student nights the club gets busy after one in the morning, so arriving a little earlier helps to avoid queues. Several bus lines run along Blasco Ibáñez, with stops a couple of minutes away on foot, and taxis are easy to find on the avenue. Tickets and guest lists for each night are usually published online in advance, and afternoon concerts are a good option if you prefer live music to a late night.
