Play Club

Play Club is a two-floor nightclub on Calle Cuba, number 8, in the middle of Ruzafa, Valencia's most popular neighbourhood for bars, restaurants and late-night plans. It has the energy of a neighbourhood club rather than a big-room venue: a place where people end up after dinner and drinks in the surrounding streets, with weekend club nights, afternoon parties and frequent official after-parties linked to concerts and festivals in the city.

The two levels have different sounds. The main room plays indie and hits, from Spanish pop-rock to the international songs everyone sings along to, while the upper area is dedicated to urban music, reggaeton and trap. Some nights also bring electronic music sessions. Capacity is around 400 people, so on busy nights both floors fill up and the atmosphere is close and lively.

The core format is simple: Play Viernes and Play Sábado are the main club nights, starting around midnight, with DJs such as Dani del Lío, Ferran or Eme DJ behind the decks. On top of that come afternoon sessions like the Verbena tardeo, playful themed parties such as ChocoChurros with chocolate and churros, rock karaoke nights where groups play the band, and official after-parties for concerts by Spanish bands. The club has also offered door discounts for people with tickets to partner concerts and festivals.

The crowd is young, mostly local and mixed with students and international residents of Ruzafa, typically in their twenties. Many nights are free with a guest-list sign-up, while others have advance tickets that usually let you skip the queue; when there is a charge it tends to be around 10 to 15 euros. Entry is for over-18s. The door generally prefers a tidy, going-out look over sportswear.

Practical tips: Ruzafa fills up from ten at night onwards, so the usual plan is dinner and a drink in the area, around Calle Sueca, Calle Cádiz or the Ruzafa market, and then Play Club from around one in the morning.
