Peter Rock Club is a small concert venue and bar at Calle Quart 26, in El Carmen, on the stretch of old-town street that leads to the Torres de Quart. With room for about 300 people, it is devoted almost entirely to rock and roll, and it also works as a restaurant, which gives it a looser, more sociable feel than a standard concert hall.
The décor sets the tone: images of rock icons and musical instruments on the walls, a stage close to the audience and a straightforward, no-frills atmosphere. It is the kind of place where you can eat something, watch a band from a few metres away and stay for a drink afterwards without anyone caring what you are wearing.
The programme is broader than the name suggests. Tribute nights are a staple, with recent and upcoming bills dedicated to Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne, Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ronnie James Dio, Metallica and Pantera, and Depeche Mode. Alongside them come heavier international acts such as Gutalax, hip-hop artists like Sara Hebe, indie and pop-rock bands such as Claim, British alternative veterans Jesus Jones, and late-night club sessions such as Puro Indie.
The crowd changes with each gig: metal fans, rock veterans, indie kids and the usual El Carmen night owls. Dress is casual. Our listing sets the minimum age at 18, though some concerts may have their own conditions, so check the ticket. Entry for club nights is usually between 5 and 12 euros according to our listing, while concert tickets tend to range from around 8 to 30 euros depending on the act.
Concerts usually start between 20:00 and 23:00, and on weekends the venue stays open late, until around 06:00 on Fridays and Saturdays according to our listing.
