Latex is a small electronic music club at Carrer de Carles Cervera 23, in Ruzafa, a few doors from Picadilly and within walking distance of the city centre. Its motto, Where electronic music lives, sums up the idea: no bottle-service spectacle, just a dark room, a booth and a weekend programme built around DJs.
The space is compact and deliberately dark. Visitors have compared walking in to stepping into the world of Tron, with glowing, circuit-like lines of light cutting through the black, and a sound-first atmosphere that has drawn comparisons with Berlin's club culture. It is the kind of room where the music matters more than the décor, and where a full floor feels full quickly.
Musically, Latex moves between house, tech house, funk and electro, with a strong focus on groove and bass, and over the years it has also hosted techno and harder sessions. The club runs on Fridays and Saturdays, and its event names follow a simple pattern: the day letter and date (V for viernes, S for sábado) and then the line-up. Recent and upcoming nights have featured local and touring DJs such as Xenzo, Adrián Arias, Nacho Padilla, Sarah Jane, Gio Porzio, Grüvers, Whatever Charles, Pablo Cebrián, Claudia Coll, Nysok and Mareels, plus a Halloween party. Outside promoters also take over the room; Eclectika, for example, has run inclusive club nights here mixing techno, ghetto tech and broken rhythms.
The crowd is made up of electronic music fans rather than people looking for commercial hits, with a mix of Ruzafa locals, students and international residents. Entry is 18 and over, and dress is casual; comfortable clothes and shoes you can dance in are the norm, and nobody expects you to dress up.
Nights typically start around midnight and run into the early morning, and the room tends to fill after one. Tickets and guest lists are usually handled through Xceed, and prices vary by night and line-up, so check the event pages; buying in advance is a good idea for bigger names because capacity is limited. Ruzafa makes it easy to plan the whole night around it: dinner and drinks in the neighbourhood's restaurants and bars, then Latex for the late part. Upcoming nights are listed on this page.
